Perhaps it wasn't your being a jew
what frightened you, however the
question remains of how it eventually
broke the camel's back: stale promises,
worm-eaten passions, sunday morning
psalms sinking in the heel-winged waters.
Them rocks were too big for your nerves.
Your breath's larger than life,
your faith pale as a sin.
